MAJ Canisha Martin is currently the Deputy Commander for Nursing at Andrew Rader US Army Health Clinic.
Her previous assignments include, Trauma Nurse Instructor at the Army Trauma Training Detachment in Miami, Florida, Assignment Officer for Lieutenant and new accession Medical Surgical Nurses, Human Resources Command. Clinic Nurse Officer in Charge, Martin Army Community Hospital Emergency Department, Fort Benning, GA; along with various assignments at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Fort Bliss, TX.
She enlisted in the United States Army Reserves in May 1998 as a Combat Medic and Surgical Technician. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree from Florida A&M University, Tallahassee, Florida and commissioned as 2LT into the United States Army Nurse Corps. She attended the Emergency Nurse Course and became a board certified Emergency Nurse. She went on to earn her Masters of Science in Health Care Administration degree from Trident University. A graduate of the Officer Basic, Advanced Courses, and Command General Staff College. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the National Society of Pershing Angels, the Emergency Nurses Association and the Society of Trauma Nurses. MAJ Martin’s military awards include Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Army Achievement Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Iraqi Campaign Medal and various unit and service awards.
She enjoys family time, fitness, and participating in mentorship programs. She is married to LTC Antoine (Tony) Martin. They have one daughter, Jada and two sons T.J. and Cameron.
